Learn to play bridge - join in the fun!

All of my classes are currently held in Stoke Lodge. A delightful and historic building set within its own grounds with free parking / also close to the bus stop. Bookings are made via the Bristol City Council secure booking system.

Please note that the Adult Learning Service, (run by Bristol City Council), operates a waiting list system when courses are full. Please contact me directly if you want a place, but find that the booking system shows a full course. My courses all follow the Standard English ACOL learning programme from English Bridge Education and Development - the national charity for bridge education and youth bridge. Improvers Bridge - from September 2024

This is a follow on course for people who began learning within the past few years or want a revision rather than complete beginner course.

Online beginners' lessons and practice sessions

My courses for complete beginners with no prior knowledge of bridge can be started at any time. The course is online and will suit anyone who wants to start at the beginning or those who just know a little. There are video lessons. Scheduled online practice sessions commence in the autumn but late joining is possible.

Practice sessions are scheduled for Monday evenings at 7pm. Flexible start dates. There will be gaps to allow for holiday periods.

The online course has 12 video lessons with some tasks and quizzes. You can go at your own pace as you have access to the course for two years. It is intended to give you an overview of bridge in a fairly short time period. Some concepts will be simplified so that you can enjoy playing without advanced rules. My weekly practice sessions are just over an hour and enable you to practice with others who are also working through the course.

Practice with other group members is also possible to suit your own schedule. You will be shown how to do this if you are willing to share contact details with others in the group.
