FAST TRACK BRIDGE:

Fast Track Bridge is a course for complete beginners who want to learn to play and get started quickly. It will also suit people who have learnt before but need to refresh their knowledge and anyone who cannot commit to a longer course of weekly lessons. The pace is a little quicker than  my longer beginners courses so it may suit faster learners.

Where: the course will be at Bristol Bridge Club, located in Hotwells, BS8

When: The course is run over 8 Saturdays (mornings)

Next course: There are no courses planned at present

Course dates  2020:

Course outline:
Beginning with introducing how bridge is played you will move on to learn about card play and using a bidding system (which is called Standard English ACOL). You will learn and practice as you gain playing skills and build up your bidding knowledge.
By the end of the course you will be able to bid and play with some guidance and understand the most common situations. During and after the course, some additional practice play sessions will be offered. After the course you can join regular practice and improvement sessions.

Cost £150. This includes the excellent new Fast Track Bridge textbook worth £30. There are additional handouts and materials provided and also a free trial for an on line learning programme. There is a generous discount for students. This also applies to young people still in education or apprenticeship.  Young people (under 16's) are welcome to join if accompanied by a parent / carer.

FAQs

Do I need a partner (to join the course)?
No. You will play with other class members during the course. We can also help to find partners for anyone who wants to play at the bridge clubs.

What if I miss a lesson?
Missing a lesson at the beginning of the course is not ideal but if you miss a lesson part way through the course, the Fast Track text book with some additional self-study material should be enough to keep you at the same stage as the rest of the group.

Will I be able to play bridge after the lessons?
You should have a good grasp of how bridge is played and know a basic bidding system. You can try novice sessions and more practice sessions which will be arranged, with people who have completed the course or completed a similar course.

How can I continue learning after the course?
You can join in practice play sessions and more lessons for the next step are being planned. I can also recommend on line learning to suit your level of knowledge.

Where can I play bridge after the Fast Track course?

1. You will be given information about local sessions suitable for new players
2. Extra practice play sessions will be offered for our Fast Track learners
3. You will receive a free trial to an on line learn to play programme and a discount joining price.
4. You can play with one of my specially chosen "buddies". They are regular players who are keen        to help new players.
5. You can play socially with other class members
